"The Devil and Daniel Webster" features Walter Huston as Scratch

"The Devil and Daniel Webster" was required reading in 9th grade. It presented a courtroom drama in which the devil, named Scratch, goes on trial to collect on one's soul.

In 1941 Walter Huston portrayed Scratch with grinning relish. Edward Arnold portrayed Daniel Webster as a firery statesman with Gene Lockhart as a squire.
