Happy Easter - CinemaDave

Apr. 8th, 2012 10:50 am Happy Easter

Following the lead of Jesus, Cinema Dave has decided to forgive Sir Paul McCartney for his jerky comments about President Bush the Younger. These comments were made during one of President Obama's White House Concerts, when unemployment was over 8 percent.

22 Easters ago, Paul visited Joe Robbie Stadium on Easter Weekend, Cinema Dave attended both concerts when he was employed by 105.9 WAXY FM;

105.9 WAXY FM had recently been sold to Ackerley Communication. In many ways, the McCartney Concert was the last hurrah for the many employees of this once proud RKO Radio Station. By Memorial Day, Ackerley began "eliminating positions." Cinema Dave and Robert "Bob" Carter were part of the legendary "Memorial Day Massacre."

Ackerley Communications drove the station into the ground and eventually sold 105.9 WAXY FM at half value. Besides Cinema Dave and Robert "Bob" Carter, many RKO Radio employees have survived and thrived in the South Florida community.

While not a "hit" song, Paul created this quiet song that has grown more profound through the years;

Give me your hand, I'd like to shake it
I want to show you I'm your friend
You'll understand if I can make it clear,
It's all that matters in the end

Put it there, if it weights a ton,
That's what the father said to his young son
I don't care, if it weights a ton,
As long as you and I are here, put it there
Long as you and I are here, put it there

If there's a fight, I'd like to fix it
I hate to see things go so wrong
The darkest night and all its mixed emotions
Is getting lighter, sing a long

Put it there, if it weights a ton,
That's what the father said to his young son
I don't care, if it weights a ton,
As long as you and I are here, put it there
Long as you and I are here, put it there
From "Flowers in the Dirt" 1989
