"Silver Linings Playbook" - THE Contemporary Oscar Nominee

Of the nine Best Picture Nominations, "Silver Linings Playbook" is the most domestic motion picture. It has a leading man (Bradley Cooper) who was once People Magazine's sexiest man of the year, the hottest young actress in the movies today (Jennifer Lawrence), a master thespian (Robert DeNiro) and an actress (Jacki Weaver) who has become an overnight sensation after four decades of film work in Australian. Throw in Director David O. Russell and the Weinstein Brothers marketing blitiz, **Silver Linings Playbook** has the potential to garner a few Oscars.

"On the Road" is more Willie Nelson, than Crosby & Hope.

There has been much anticipation for "On the Road," a film based on the Jack Keroyac novel of the same name. The book has become required reading for some local high schools. The casting of Kirsten Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Amy Adams and Steve Buscemi, one expected a fully independent film that supported Kerouac's hippy vision.

"Bullet to the Head" should have targeted Home Video

Based on a graphic novel by Alexis Nolent, "Bullet to the Head" has all the elements of a pulp noir crime drama. When you factor 66 year old Sylvester Stallone as your noir protagonist, one expects a world weary perspective about the mean streets.

Ironically, Stallone seems to be the most energetic actor in the movie.

Before defeating his demon of alcholism, Alice Cooper created the album - "DaDa." While he has no recollection of recording the album with producer Bob Eziran, Cooper admits that he is a bit creeped out by "DaDa." Produced by Guillermo Del Toro, "Mama" is a creepy story from a different gender.
