"Robert and Frank" opened PBiFF 17

Opening this weekend, **Robot & Frank** opened the **17th Annual Palm Beach International Film Festival** and became the audience favorite. A touch of domestic drama with a slice of science fiction, **Robot & Frank** deals with many domestic issues in an entertaining way.

Frank (Frank Langella) is a retired jewel thief who lives in suburban New York. His children (played by James Marsden and Liv Tyler) fear that their father can not live by himself, so they purchase a domestic robot to do his chores.

Feeling that this robot is crimping his style, especially when it comes to wooking a perky librarian (Susan Sarandon), Frank rejects the mechanical midget man. After a series of misadventures, Frank realizes that he can program a new partner in crime.

As Frank, Frank Langella plays a composite role of so many of his former characters, an educated man with many petty flaws that he does not acknowledge. Producers are devising an Oscar campaign for Langella's balanced performance. Beyond good performances, **Robot & Frank** tells a good short story.

"Cabin in the Woods" will be a cult favorite

When **The Avengers** open tomorrow, the slowly performing **Cabin in the Woods** will likely be pushed aside. Co written by Joss Whedon (Ironically - the director of **The Avengers**), **Cabin in the Woods** has developed a cult following through word-of-mouth. Part H.P. Lovecraft, part Jason Voorhees, part **Hunger Games,** **Cabin in the Woods** fulfills this Monster Maven's expectations and is pure popcorn eating Saturday matinee fun. Cinco feliz De Mayo !

Larry in the middle of "The Three Stooges"

From the beginning to the end, Cinema Dave smiled as he watched "The Three Stooges." It was 11 years ago when The Farrelly Brothers announced their plans for a "Three Stooges" movie. The project underwent development hell and at one time Patricia Heaton, Jim Carrey and Oscar Winners Benecio Del Toro and Sean Penn were attached to this product.
