Say Hello to "Goodbye Solo"

While lacking the marketing budget of **Up,** **Goodbye Solo** is a low budget independent motion picture that shares similar themes, albeit with different characters. Solo (Souleymane Sy Savane) is a cab driver in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. An African immigrant, Solo picks up an old man named William (Red West, a former bodyguard for Elvis Presley). William gives his cab driver a thousand dollar fare to drive him to see the Blowing Rock of North Carolina. Solo suspects that William plans his suicide.

As dark as this subject matter sounds, **Goodbye Solo** is a life affirming motion picture. Director/Writer Ramin Bahrani manages to fill his celluloid frame with arresting landscapes of North Carolina and interesting characters. **Goodbye Solo** should not get lost in the hype of the summer movie blockbusters.
