Day TWO: The Alabama Adventure - Arrival in Montgomery

In family circles, we call this the Mount Rushmore picture.
Of the 12 Watsons of Alabama, these are the surviving children of Sgt. Dave Glenn Watson and Maggie Hartzog.

The parties and festivities had begun, but Cinema Dave crashed in the central time zone watching "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

The Watson Sisters of Union Springs discussed family matters and Union Springs history.

Day THREE:The Alabama Adventure - Dancing at the hunting lodge

Cinema Dave's Mom celebrated her 65th class reunion and danced with the man who brung her through 61 years of wedded bliss.

While the band did not play Glenn Miller or Big Band, Cinema Dave's parents found a way to dance to the Everly Brothers, the Beatles, Roy Orbison, Jimmy Buffet, etc...etc...

Sometimes it is good to leave a little tender moment alone...

Aunt Peggy decided to shake her groove thang with the energetic Tom Fenn.

Aunt Peggy also tore up the dance floor with her brother-in-law, that Yankee in-law.

Cinema Dave went home and crashed in his Montgomery motel room watching a dreary repeat of Saturday Night Live, a show that used to be funny.

Day FOUR: The Alabama Adventure - An Afternoon in Union Springs

On this sunny Sunday, Cinema Dave and his parents visited the Union Springs Carnegie Library.

After years of badgering, the parents convinced Cinema Dave to donate some of his books to the library.

The mother managed to hurt her back while performing this community service for her old home town.

After performing this good deed, Cinema Dave and his parents visited the place where so many Watsons have gone on to meet eternity.

This is the headstone of Sgt. Dave Glenn Watson, the man that Cinema Dave is named after.

This is the headstone for the Matriarch of Union Springs, Cinema Dave's maternal grandmother, Maggie Belle. When she moved out of Union Springs in 1992, the town was never the same. The last of the Watsons had moved out.

Still the memories linger of the great Watson Brothers fireworks war by the old ditch.

After this stroll down memory lane, Cinema Dave and his parents enjoyed a meal at Michelle's Buffet. The three of them ate so much, that they stopped short of their intended destination, the Cabot Lodge in Gainesville and slept in Valdosta.

Sleep, perhance to dream?
Cinema Dave was awakened by his parents often in the night. The parents claimed that he was snoring. Cinema Dave fell asleep looking for the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday night football.

Day SIX The Alabama Adventure - The Parents stay at Disney Beach Resort

Cinema Dave ditched his parents at the Disney Beach Club Resort and resumed his membership at the Adventurer's Club on Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney. When he returned to his apartment, Cinema Dave learned that Mickey & Minnie Mouse gave his Parents a Vanilla Minnie Mouse candy.

The candy was good, but it did not stop his parents from waking up Cinema Dave in the middle of the night to complain about his snoring.

Day Seven The Alabama Adventure - Ongoing Orlando

Cinema Dave and his parents took a tender to the Boardwalk and enjoyed lunch at the ESPN Sports Bar restaurant. It was the day after Bobby Bond's record breaking homerun, so steroids was the topic of conversation among the diners.

After spending some time in the Magic Kingdom and Epocot, Cinema Dave returned to the Adventurer's Club for the evening.

Colonel Critchlow Suchbench, head of Adventurer's Club Security, seemed less crabby, perhaps he had been taking his prunes. The old boy lead a great Hoopla and explained the purpose of the Hoopla - this ritual is to rid the room of evil spirits. It works.

Nice Boat, but Cinema Dave's Dad makes better boats!

Instead of watching television, Cinema Dave tried reading Harley Jane Kozak's new book, "Dead Ex." Thus far, the book was good reading, but the snoring did not stop and his parents kept waking up Cinema Dave.

Day EIGHT The Alabama Adventure concludes

Despite the summer gnats, snoring and the humid heat, Cinema Dave and his parents felt like they had a good vacation as they returned home. Still, there was more more stop at the House of Blues.

Odysseus would envy this Alabama Adventure with Cinema Dave and his parents.

Once home, Cinema Dave continued to read "Dead Ex" by Harley Jane Kozak, which features a theme dealing with Greek Mythology.

Post Script:
Cinema Dave's parents are not complaining about his snoring anymore.
