"Knocked Up" should be knocked out this weekend.

I finally understand why my parent's generation have such a disdain for the humor of "Saturday Night Live" and "Animal House." As you age, one realizes that one has seen a lot more than one let's on. "Knocked Up" is the story about an accidental pregnancy between a career woman and a stoner.

To Director/Writer Judd Apatow's credit, he has produced a life affirming comedy about birth. But given the behavior of the adults, one wonders if these individuals should be allowed to breed.

Top billed Seth Rogen is the XY chromosome Ben Stone, whose life ambition is to create a pay per view website featuring naked celebrities in movies. Katherine Heigl is hard working XX chromosome who is given a big break on the E Entertainment News Channel. She celebrates with her sister, has a one night stand and eight weeks later she pukes on a regular basis.

I saw this movie with two crowds that were not satisfied. The gross out humor crowd appeared bored between the scenes of bodily functions and talk of bodily functions. The soap opera crowd enjoyed the plot until the scatological humor interrupted the romantic proceedings. These soap opera ticket buyers were too grossed out to leave and purchase popcorn.

Callow mainstream elitist critics seem to love this flick. "Knocked Up" lacks the discipline of executing a well thought out gag or any original thought on baby making.
