PBiFF - Bobby Moresco and the written word

The Palm Beach International Film Festival opened a clip of Steven Spielberg when he received his honorary Oscar. At this ceremony, Spielberg implored filmmakers to return to the written word.

Bobby Moresco has understood this concept, in which is why he has been involved in the two most recent Best Picture Winners at the Academy Awards, "Million Dollar Baby" and "Crash." Having lost at most previous award ceremonies, Moresco modestly admitted that he was suprised by "Crash" Best Picture Victory.

"I thought that Jack [Nicholson, who presented the Oscar] had a little too much to drink and said the wrong film,"
Moresco said on the red carpet.

At the the Palm Beach International Film Festival, Bobby Moresco received the Horizon Award, which spotlights a rising star in the film industry. Nice guy.

PBiFF - Disappointed in Dunaway's details

Having read several biographies about Faye Dunaway,
I always wanted to know why this Tallahassee Lassie from FLA,
became a Gator Girl at the University of Florida.
I did not get the answer to this question,
because I did not get to talk to Faye Dunaway on the Red Carpet.

She spoke to the television reporters,
but she was whisked away quickly from the red carpet because
"She was tired from travel."

Little did I know that Dunaway failed to attend the premier of her own movie,
"Rain," which costarred Robert Loggia, Brooklyn Sudano and Khandi Alexander.
Sadly, there are reports from the Palm Beach Post that Dunaway demanded to profit from her appearance.

Maybe Dunaway did not realize that PBiFF was a non profit organization.
If the facts and figures of Jose Lambiet's article is correct,
Faye Dunaway would have walked away with the majority of money raised by Saturday Night's gala.

Faye Dunaway gave the last and longest speech of the night.
She talked about her favorite leading men, Jack Nicholson, Steve McQueen and Warren Beatty.
She also said,

"Learn the craft. Don't think it's easy and pay attention to the details."

I guess I am one of the details that she overlooked
and this entry has come back to haunt Faye Dunaway.

PBiFF Tommy Davidson plants roots in South Florida

Tommy Davidson seemed to be a nice guy with a good sense of humor.

We discussed the important things from our youth like "H.R. Puffenstuff" and "The Banana Splits."
We talked about drive-ins and how they have become target practice for drive bys.
We both believe the public deserves another "Booty Call!"
We also talked about a possible "Booty Call 2,"
if Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx and Vivica Fox weren't so busy.

Tommy plans on establishing some production roots in South Florida,
with secret plans of actually making movies that people actually want to see in the movie theatre.
The secret plan, make the film entertaining!
