I'd love to see some reruns of "Petticoat Junction," I remember it was must see tv for this kid. Then in the early 70s, the shows switched from rural to urban and television has not been the same since, especially CBS.

Ya gotta love a show like "Petticoat Junction" that opens with three naked ladies swimming in a water tank in a town called Hooterville, LOL!

There was quite a lot written about the countrified image purge CBS did at that time. Many of their shows in a rural setting were getting good ratings but the suits felt CBS was becoming too much of a hick network.

"All in the Family", "Mary Tyler Moore", "The Bob Newhart Show" and many other urban comedy show hits and spin-offs became the direction CBS chose to follow, but there is still something to be said in favor of small town country humor.
