Books' n' Bears' n' Dolphins' n' Librarians

These three gorgeous women - Adriana, Arlene Garcia and Cara Rosenthal - helped to distribute 800 "Books'n Bears" to children in South Florida. These women greeted each child with hugs, smiles and sincerity. This program is a class act partnership between the Broward County Library Foundation and the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders.

"Books’n’ Bears" at the Holidays was started in 1991 by library benefactor Bert S. Harmon.
Harmon funded the program for 3 years, benefiting approximately 200 kids each year. For 15 years, the Broward County Library Foundation has tried to find more sponsors for "Books'n' Bears."

Broward County Library staff chipped in to buy the books and a local bear toy company donated the bears. The Broward County Library Foundation funded the program for a number of years, and this year the Miami Dolphins Foundation began to chip in. This year Broward County Library Foundation officially distributed over 800 Books n' Bears. Having witnessed the magic of this program, this program needs to grow to at least 1000 "Books'n'Bears" for 2007.

People can donate new or gently loved plush bears at any BCL branch, or can send a check to the Broward Public Library Foundation, with Books ‘n’ Bears noted in the For: line.
