One more Birthday for April 5! - CinemaDave

Apr. 5th, 2006 10:07 pm One more Birthday for April 5!

Happy Birthday Jane Asher!!!

We have not met,
but I am convinced that this lady is one of the nicest people on the planet.
Actress, Author, Baker, Wife and Mother, Jane provided me an interview for my first
"Literary Cinema," a screening of Edgar Allen Poe's "Masque of Red Death."

Her charity work in the UK is well respected. Jane is President of the National Autistic Society, Arthritis Care and the West London Family Service Unit. She is Vice-President of the National Deaf Children's Society, and the Child Accident Prevention Trust. She is a Patron of Bowel Cancer UK, the Parkinson's Disease Society and the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Unit at UCH in London.

As an actress, Jane can be seen in "Tirant lo Blanc," costarring Victoria Abril and Giancarlo Giannini.
As an entrepreneur, Jane's website is http://www.jane-asher.co.uk/

Saturday Screening

(Link)
Please excuse me for posting this here, but I don't know how to just send you a note.

Anyway, noticed on PF's blog that you're screening The Natural this Sat. Not really a baseball movie because it's not really a baseball book. We can discuss that, I suppose. Levinson really didn't know what to do with a work he truly admired. Some good performances, however, especially Duvall and Brimley.

Best REAL baseball movie? Bang the Drum Slowly based on the Mark Harris novel and adapted with integrity starring Michael Moriarity and a very young DeNiro. Done first on tv during the "golden age" starring Paul Newman and Albert Salmi.

Btw: Where's the screening?
