Scary episode of "The Rifleman" - CinemaDave

Sep. 2nd, 2011 01:51 pm Scary episode of "The Rifleman"

As "The Rifleman" Chuck Connors as Lucas McCain almost met his match with Charlie Gordo, portrayed by Lon Chaney Jr. Foreshadowing Hannibal Lechter by thirty years, Charlie Gordo sits in his jail and masterminds his breakout.

Titled "Gunfire," this episode of "The Rifleman" takes on film noir qualities with actual suspense leading up to the climax.

To counter balance the haunting of Lon Chaney Jr., Mark McCain (Johnny Crawford) shines in the comedy of a first date.

I saw a recent rerun of the "Gunfire" episode of "The Rifleman" featuring Lon Chaney Jr. Chuck Connors was so imposing it was a challenge to find an actor capable of depicting a real threat to Connors, but Lon was a most convincing and menacing opponent.

Hi again, Cinema Dave! Yes, I haven't made many comments here for a while, but I've continued to drop in a few times a week to read your most enjoyable posts.

Even as an older man Lon Chaney Jr. was capable of being a believable threat to much younger tough guys.
