Each year, FLIFF gives a Lifetime Achievement Award to a person who has a distinguished career in the movies. Leave a comment
This has included some of Hollywood's most beloved Actors, along with some of the most recognized Producers and Directors in the history of the movies. This year, we slightly break tradition and pay tribute to the person who brings all of the actor's talents and director's vision to the screen, the Cinematographer. With that in mind, we are proud to annouce that this year's Lifetime Achievement award will be presented to Mario Tosi.
Tonight, and over the next several weeks, FLIFF 2009 kicks off with a retrospective of his career featuring five of his most rememberable films. Following each film, Mr. Tosi willl discuss working on the films, from behind the camera, and share stories about working with an impressive list of directors and star studded cast. These films will all be presented FREE for FLIFF members, and $5.00 for non-members. Prior to the final film on October 11, we will hold a reception in Mr. Tosi's honor. All films start at 7pm.
Tonight's film is "Carrie,"
the film that launched the Academy Award winning career of Sissy Spacek and introduced John Travolta to the big screen, Brian De Palma's "Carrie." For more information, call (954) 525-FILM.
