The sad thing about David Carradine is that he seemed to be enjoying a comeback since "Kill Bill." His latest film with Rip Torn and Bruce Dern, "Golden Boys" enjoyed smart marketing and an interview on the CBS morning show.
During the CBS morning show, David Carradine revealed that he was offered the role of "Long Hair" in "The Cowboys." Carradine turned down the role and Bruce Dern played the odious man who shot John Wayne in the back, four times.
Cinema Dave met Carradine at an autograph show a few years ago. There was so much that Cinema Dave wanted to asked him, but he seemed shy and wanted to hang out in the lobby. Cinema Dave later learned that David Carradine was drunk.
As Lionel, Ethel and John made the Barrymore name mythic in Thespian circles, the same could now be said of the sons of John Carradine, Robert, Keith and now the late David Carradine.
This is sad but not really unexpected news. I enjoyed many of David Carradine's performances. He had a long history of risky behavior and I am surprised he lived past the age of 70. I hope is family is coping as well as they can.
