For those who prefer drama without Halloween themes, FLiFF features a movie involving a New York actor famous for his work as gangster, Dominic Chianese of "The Sopranos" and "The Godfather Part II." In "The Last New Yorker," Dominic Chianese stars as Lenny Sugarman, a salesman who must confront his retirement. Lenny Sugarman learns the lesson that most retirees eventually learn, the actual act of retirement is more rewarding than planning for it.
"The Last New Yorker" is a sweet version of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman." Chianese creates a Jewish Willy Loman that is both poignant and charming. For a small budgeted independent movie, Director Harvey Wang makes the most of the Manhattan landscape and composition.
