At the courthouse in Fort Lauderdale - CinemaDave

Feb. 21st, 2007 08:33 pm At the courthouse in Fort Lauderdale

During lunch, I took a shuttle to the courthouse in Fort Lauderdale. With helicopters flying overhead, the Anna Nicole trial is a local media event. Not many civilians were hanging out.
Howard K. Stern and, a few minutes later, Anna Nicole's mother exited to black SUVs. Both people had stonefaced and stressed expressions.

The most tender moment was seeing Officer William McGarry on duty. Three years ago in a routine investigation during Hurricane Jeanne, Officer McGarry was shot. Officer William McGarry helped keep law and order in the streets of Fort Lauderdale.

Sorry CinemaDave, Officer McGarry wasn't working during the Anna Nicole fiasco, he was actually at the courthouse for the plea of the man who was the cause of the accident. He WAS in uniform, however and he looked great!!!! He has not been able to work since the shooting and is permanently disabled.

Thanks for the clarification Sandy.

Disabled? He sure did not look disabled. If there was a prize fight, I'd bet on Officer McGarry in his current status over Mike Tyson.

Thanks again!

Remember the bullet hit everything except his heart. The uniform was only for court. He is held together with mess in his stomach and his kidneys seem to have taken it the worst. They are only functioning at 40%. As we all know, looks are very deceiving. Thanks CinemaDave for remembering Officer McGarry (Bill), it's been 2 1/2 years since the accident, most people have forgotten.

I'd STILL take McGarry over Tyson, even in his current situation!

Yea, the media may have forgotten, but the people he had helped did not.
